I made these photographs during repeated visits to the Vietnamese highlands, mostly in the northern provinces, in the decade between 2015-2025. I adopted a strategy for getting myself lost so I would find someone or something by chance; often not putting enough petrol in the motorbike, or not charging my phone fully, being left to the mercy of whatever might be.

These photographs are some of the people I met, the people who invited me into their homes, and shared something of thier lives with me, the people who helped me find my way back.

“Lạc” is a variable translation of the word “lost”.
